THE HISTORY
In 1984, in a nearly deserted downtown Springfield, concert promoter, Gary L. Thomas, uncovered a diamond in the rough when he chose 307 Park Central East [PCE] as the home of Springfield’s first full-fledged concert venue, The Regency Showcase.
During his tenure as the Don of Downtown Entertainment, Thomas definitely brought it. From Marilyn Manson, 2 Live Crew and Blind Melon, to Collective Soul, Black Crowes, Veruca Salt, Jewel, Ben Folds Five, Motionless in White, Nothing More, Jelly Roll, Todd Lundgren, Tech N9ne, Whitey Morgan and hundreds and hundreds more, Thomas brought in national acts to the sweet tune of 200+ shows a year.
The history of 307 PCE is legendary. Home to The Regency Showcase for 18 years, Icon Nightclub for 9 years and back to a concert venue for the past 9 years. 307 PCE boasts the title as Springfield’s longest running, entertainment venue.
